The dog days of summer are here, making fishing a little hit or miss. Shrimp and finger mullet are plentiful in the creeks, but the larger menhaden have gotten a little hard to find. Your best bet for light tackle fishing is early morning or late afternoon, with things slowing down in the heat of the day. Inshore species like redfish, black drum and flounder have been providing action.

One species that doesn’t mind the heat this time of year…tarpon! We caught one a couple weeks ago, and have been getting consistent strikes while giving them a try. We recommend committing a full day to chasing tarpon. Why? Because that’s how you catch them!

We got a fun surprise with a small true striper while out earlier this week. Warren and his two sons had a fun morning, catching several species!
