Got back in to tarpon mode, yesterday, with some good folks from Maryland. The tarpon were fairly active, but not nearly as active as the evening before when we hooked up with one on an artificial. We couldn’t seem to shake free from the sharks all day long. Anyone who thinks sharks are “functionally extinct” should come try to catch a tarpon amidst all of them. It was an expensive day in baits, hooks, and lures. Congrats to the couple of boats we saw get hooked up. We put in a full day’s work, but came up short in the end with no tarpon alongside the boat. While we have had great success so far this season, there will always be days like today that keep you humble and hungry.
