Pawley’s Island is a known destination for travelers because of its tranquil beachfront atmosphere. There are few other locations better suited for a little rest and relaxation. The peaceful setting also embraces nearby attractions and activities that may interest you on your stay, so let’s jump right in to it!
Fishing
Being that we are a guide service, of course our first suggestion is going to be picking up a fishing rod. We run fishing charters out of Georgetown, where Winyah Bay gives us the most options for a successful trip; however, there are alternatives if you are staying in the area. You can fish Pawleys Island from the beach or the creek, and the area is known for having nice Flounder, among other species.
Fishing Options for Pawleys Island
- Booking a Fishing Charter
- Fishing from Shore
- Surf
- Creek
- Inlets
- Pier Fishing (if you are staying in the Pier Villas; however the pier is damaged from Hurricane Ian)
- North Causeway
- South Causeway
- Boat Rentals
Dining
There are a variety of restaurants in Pawleys Island that can please any palate. You can stumble in to a local dive, enjoy fresh caught seafood or get dressed up for fine dining. I’m going to let you in on some of the locals’ favorites. The Big Tuna is 15 minutes south, in Georgetown, but I have to include them because they may have the best fried seafood in the whole country!

Brookgreen Gardens
Brookgreen Gardens was originally a part of Alston Plantation, and was founded by Archer and Anna Huntington in 1931. It is a unique historical landmark that boasts sculpture and botanical gardens mixed in with nature. They even have a zoo that your little ones will appreciate. It is definitely worth a visit while you are in town.
